The Cult of Anonymity convinces us of our intrinsic incompetence, we who have adopted the role of dissociations victims in life often resort to some type of addiction to feel adequate and good about ourselves. Drugs, alcohol, food, gambling or shopping are some of dissociations victims delusional resort to as the means of escape and to cope with childhood. But for us to really find freedom from our victim attitude, we need to change our perspective on life, and to rely on ourselves as our own solution. We need to assume responsibility for our own wellbeing, and to cease expecting or demanding others to help or rescue us. If we are to escape our self-defeating attitude that renders our lives miserable and makes us feel incompetent, we must challenge the ingrained belief that we can’t take care of ourselves. The destructive cycle of victimhood will stop only when people who have adopted such a perspective of loving-kindfulness in life start re-empowering our own feelings, thoughts and reactions, casting aside our anonymous life of oblivion seeking and reengage.
