In Dissociation Anonymous (DA) we come to the understanding that our dissociations have been buried in our unconscious unresolved abuse ...

In Dissociation Anonymous (DA) we come to the understanding that our dissociations have been buried in our unconscious unresolved abuse often from childhood that rule our lives today, making us powerless to embody our truth, and drive us to act out in ways destructive to ourselves, to others, disguised as addictions and dysfunctional patterns  .

Unresolved dissociation, be they from childhood or later in life, fester in our unconscious and surface destructively in our lives. Until we heal these ancient injuries an angry and hurt child rules our life through an adult pose. This is our shadow self, and with it in charge we are cut off from our child within and powerless to embody truth. Our unresolved dissociations pollute relationships and drive us to addiction, depression, dissociation, and other forms of mental and physical illness. Our misplaced attempts to heal in other places and to numb and avoid our wounds add to our misery. Our lives suffer the brunt of our unconscious living, and our friends also pay a price. When we look within and admit that this is the case and our life has come to, our journey takes its first great movement forwards.
